Step 1
First you need to install the security orb itself, by rezzing the system on your land. Then follow the on-screen installation-helper until the system says it’s properly installed. If you experience any problems during the install, please contact Thomas Conover directly to get help.
Step 2
Left-Click on the security-orb, then make sure you configure the correct range and warning-time to fit your needs.
Whenever you change the range, you will briefly see a red-colored visual “scanner-bubble” for 10 seconds so you can easy know exactly how big the protection-area will be. This visualizer works with ranges from 1 meter all up to 192 meter diameter, using temp-on-rez mega-prims.
Step 3
Then click on the “Start” button in the main-menu of the orb and then select “Passive” mode.
That’s it! Your security orb is now running in passive-mode, and will allow anyone to visit the land, except from those specifically entered in the ban-list. Anyone in the ban-list will be instantly ejected from the land without warning.
Automatic popup alerts
You will automatically get popup-questions about what to do, whenever a visitor arrives, so there is usually no need to manually enter any people into the access-list.
Whenever you get this popup, you will get the choice of instantly banning the intruder, adding him/her to the permanent access-list or give him/her temporary-access only.
PS! If you do not want the automatic popups every time someone enters the area, you can easy turn this off by clicking on the security orb, then clicking “Start” and then clicking “Silent” mode button.
Manually entering people into access-list or ban-list
To add people to access-list using the graphical user-interface, click on the security orb, then click “addAccess” and then select the avatar-name from the popup menu.
To add people to ban-list using the graphical user-interface, click on the security orb, then click “Ban/Unban” button in the menu and follow instructions.
If you wish to manually enter people into the access-list or ban-list using chat-commands, you can use the following commands:
/7add + name (Adds a person into the access-list which will allow them permanent access)
Example: /7add thomas conover
/7ban + name (Adds a person to the permanent ban-list which will instantly kick anyone found on this list)
Example: /7ban thomas conover
By default the security orb will ban people for 3 hours. You can change the ban-time if you want
Manually removing people from access-list or ban-list
You can easy remove any people from access-list or ban-list too.
To remove a person from the access-list, first click on the security orb, then click “remAccess” button and then select the name from the menu to be removed
To remove a person from the ban-list, first click on the security orb, then click “Ban/Unban” button, then click “Unban” and then select the name from the menu to be removed from the ban-list.
That’s it! Everything should now be correctly setup and you will have your land protected at all times :)
Printing out current preferences and access-lists
You can quickly print out a full overview of the current settings and all the people registered in the access-list, ban-list and temp-access list.
To do this, click on the security orb, then click “List” and then choose “listPrefs” or “ListAccess”.
